The Langley Mill Boat Company was formed in 1974 to formalise the rental from British Waterways Board. Originally formed by 8 members of the Erewash Canal Preservation and Development Association, they restored 100m of the Southern end of the Cromford canal, and constructed the drydock. The current length of restored canal stands at nearly 270 metres, with another section nearing completion by the ECP&DA. For the past few years, operating under the name Langley Mill Boatyard Ltd, it has been ran by Pete Newman, one of the original eight founding members. Now under new ownership, we aim to continue the excellent work which was started by a group of volunteers 42 years ago.
